KOJAIN 2026-27 Elections

In accordance with the provisions of the constitution of KOJAIN, an Election Committee (EC) is constituted to conduct the election for electing the next Board of Directors for a period of two-year term, which will begin on January 01, 2026 and end on December 31, 2027.

A nomination form is required for the election of the following positions:

  • President

  • Vice President

  • Secretary

  • Treasurer

  • Eleven Regional Directors (one from each of the following regions):

Region 1

Arizona, Colorado, Hawaii, New Mexico, Southern California (South of 35 degree N Latitude), Utah, Mexico.

Region 2

Alaska, Idaho, Washington Montana, Nevada, Northern California (North of 35 degree N Latitude), Oregon, Wyoming.

Region 3

Arkansas, Kansas, Louisiana, Missouri, Oklahoma, Texas.

Region 4

Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Minnesota, Nebraska, North Dakota, South Dakota, Wisconsin.

Region 5

Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Mississippi, Tennessee.

Region 6

Kentucky, Michigan, Ohio, Western Pennsylvania (West of 77 degree Longitude), West Virginia.

Region 7

Maryland, North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia, Washington (District of Columbia).

Region 8

Delaware, Eastern Pennsylvania (East of 77 degree longitude), New Jersey.

Region 9

New York.

Region 10

Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, Vermont.

Region 11

Canada

 

Current officeholders are also eligible for nomination, provided they have not held the same position for more than two (2) consecutive terms.

Those interested in serving on the Board of Directors for any one of the available positions for the term ending on December 31, 2027 must submit a completed nomination form by September 15 2025. Late submissions will not be accepted. The nomination forms received after this date shall not be considered valid. 

The election of Youth Representative Director is outside the scope of this EC.

Nomination Requirements

A valid nomination must satisfy all of the following requirements (Ref. Article # 8.5.4 in KOJAIN Constitution & By-Laws ):

1. The nominee shall be a member of the KOJAIN in good standing on July 1, 2025.

2. The nominee shall contest for only one position.

3. The nominee for any position shall be proposed by at least two (2) KOJAIN members in good standing as of July 1, 2025.

4. The Regional Director shall be a resident of the region from which s/he is contesting from. The Regional Director nominee shall be proposed by at least two members of the same region from which s/he is contesting the election.

5. Each nominee shall submit, in writing, his/her acceptance as a candidate to contest the election and serve, if elected.

6. The nominee for the position of President must have served as a KOJAIN Director for a minimum of two (2) years.

7. If no election is required, then the EC will announce the names of the newly elected Board of Directors.

8. If there is more than one nomination received for any of the position, following process and schedule will be applied to the best of our ability:

a. Nominee will be able to withdraw their nomination by email, to the Chairman of EC on or before October 10, 2025.

b. If an election is required for any of the positions, the EC will prepare and mail out ballots, as well as the applicable election rules, to all the eligible voting members, by October 31, 2025.

c. Each contesting candidate may furnish a short (up to 200 words) biographical sketch including the record of his/her service to non-profit organizations, professional associations, etc. to the chairman of EC. Since EC will mail out this profile along with Ballot to electorates, it highly encourages contesting candidates to furnish the profile.

d. Exact number of copies of the profile to be supplied will be notified later to the contesting candidates.

e. Any properly voted original ballot postmarked or received by the chairman of EC on or before November 28, 2025 shall be considered valid for counting.

f. The EC will conduct opening and counting of ballots on or about December 07, 2025.

g. Online voting as an alternative option to mail in ballots is being evaluated and will be advised by mid October 2025.

h. Location and time for ballot counting will be announced later to the candidates contesting the election. Contesting candidates may attend ballot counting in person or through their representatives.

i. The EC shall tabulate and submit results of the election to the Board of Directors at the earliest possible date.

16. The newly-elected Board of Directors shall take over on January 1, 2026.

Nomination Process for the upcoming KOJAIN election.

Section 1 – First Nominator

  • Complete the 2026–27 KOJAIN Election Nomination Form, including:

    • Your full name, contact number, email, and home address.

    • The second nominator’s full name, contact number, email, and home address.

    • The nominee’s full name, position, contact number, email, and home address.

  • Submit the form.

Section 2 – Second Nominator

  • You will receive an email from the first nominator to review & approve/deny the nomination.

  • Review the details and click Approve to confirm.

Section 3 – Nominee

  • You will receive an email from the second nominator to review and accept/deny your nomination.

  • Click Accept to confirm.

A copy of the completed nomination form will be sent to the nominee, both nominators, and the Election Committee.
